British Airways Food & Drink

British Airways have today announced that from 11 January 2017 they will no longer offer passengers in Economy on shorthaul routes complimentary food and drink.

Instead, British Airways will introduce a new buy on board option for their shorthaul economy passengers in partnership with Marks & Spencer. A wide range of M&S snack options will be available with prices ranging from £1 for a packet of handcooked salt and vinegar crisps, up to £4.95 for a spiced chicken with quinoa and rice salad, with a number of sandwich and fruit options in between.

On-board beverages are also to be chargeable, with a full bar service offering soft drinks from £1 and alcoholic drinks starting at £4. Beers will be available at £4, quarter bottles of wine at £4.50, or a gin and tonic will set you back £6.

Payment is to be made via debit or credit card, including contactless. Please note that this will initially only apply to Heathrow and Gatwick services, with London City and Stansted to introduce the new service by Summer 2017. Club Europe passengers will still enjoy a complimentary food and beverage service.
