Brussels Airlines have announced that on 1 July 2016 they are to launch their first premium economy cabin, the brand new Economy Plus.
The new class will come into service on intercontinental flights to the USA, Canada and Africa on all of Brussels Airlines’ A330 aircraft, taking up the first four rows of the economy cabin, comprising 32 seats. Economy Plus will offer a range of additional benefits over the economy seat, including an additional 8cm of legroom, 20 degree seat recline (standard economy is 8 degrees), champagne, an amenity kit and linen pillow.
To celebrate the launch of Economy Plus, Brussels Airlines are to offer free upgrades to 20,000 economy passengers during July and August, as well as offering a special introductory rate of EUR99 to upgrade, regardless of the fare type purchased. The regular cost of upgrade thereafter will be EUR120 each way.
Brussels Airlines COO, Lars Redeligx, commented that “we see an increasing demand for a product between Business Class and Economy Class. Our new Economy Plus offers more space, more comfort and more amenities at a very attractive price. After implementing our new commercial strategy successfully for shorthaul flights, we are now starting to implement a new product generation also on our longhaul flights. More innovations are already in the pipeline.”
